I was just wondering what the Italian primary education system is like.

How many grades/levels of compulsory education do children in Italy go through? (It's K-12 in the US).
What's the normal class size in public schools?
Which is better, education in public or private schools?

There are 5 grades of elementary school (from 6 to 11 years old), 3 of 'medie' (11/12 - 14) and 5 of high school (14-19).
School is compulsory until students are not 18.
There are 20-25 children in a class (the 'class' never change) and I think education is better the public schools then the private ones (there are often favoritisms, according to my experience).
